Redoing Everything for Paste!
Alta Mira has been selected to be part of the Dales Pale Ale and Paste magazine downlow'd club !!

So, the only thing is the ILR page isn't really working, and I've gotta get it up and running ASAP because people will be going to it from the Paste website when they listen to Alta Mira..

So I'm burning the midnight oil on this one.

I just found some really cool templating stuff for Joomla.. I'll let ya know how it all works out..

Fuuuuck me Hunter (Alta Mira) cut his thumb off or the end of it anyway.. I am waiting by the phone I guess he's being rushed to the hospital. Tonight's show is definitely off.

bandsintown.com
Check this out: http://bandsintown.com "the biggest, baddest, most comprehensive, and complete database of concert tickets and information in the world"

Absolutely incredible site. It's funny, I've been talking about launching a service like this for about a year and a half, I guess I'm not the only one who thought of it.. though I've done most of the talking about it to Steph, so either she ratted me out or my house and or car is bugged.. either way this is a totally killer website that everyone should be using..

Future of Music Policy Summit Summary and etc
The event was pretty much life changing. Now, this is a pretty big statement, but I believe what I learned at this summit and the inspiration it gave me will ultimately shape Indian Ledge Records into something so much more true to our mission. I've always done the jump in and figure it out later approach, which can be dangerous for sure, but in most cases the only way to go about things.. the FOMC policy summit helped me start to get a grip on the figure it out later part. The summit truly shattered my perception of what Indian Ledge Records should be.. I thought artist friendly contracts and business dealings were the biggest part, but it's so much more than that.. that one idea alone still leaves you with an archaic idea. I realize now just how much of the entire business model MUST change, that it's not about dealing with bands like an oldschool label business-wise and just being nice to the artists, the real necesary change is so much bigger than I can cram into one blog post (and I wouldn't know all of the answers anyhow)

I'm putting it all together and my blog will be the story. This blog was created in order to tell the story of the record company, and though I've been blogging since 2005, I believe the real story is about to begin.. which is fine since the past years have been me meandering and not really knowing what the hell I'm doing.. and the year stint without the blog at all in 2008.

Right now I'm putting together a restructure of the ILR website. I think we'll bill ourselves as Record Company 2.0

Video from the Future of Music Policy Summit
Al Franken spoke at the Future of Music Policy Summit and he was quite funny and to the point about net neutrality and how it affects the future of music business. link:http://www.c-spanvideo.org/program/289289-1 (link courtesy of Paul Rapp)

I'll have my thoughts about the summit posted soon.
